Just some feedback, yes the unscripted dialogue/test at the end adds another useful component to the lesson so please continue with this

Also, doing lessons on topical issues helps reinforce learning in my opinion as what is being said in our news broadcasts can be put into Arabic such as all the talk about the current weather situation in the UK - though it the snow has disappeared in London now. Good for me as I have a trek to Sainsburys :)

I would also suggest a topical lesson about the current state of the economy (if you haven't already done)

Need to clarify a point: جِد means hardwork and جَد means really/seriously. Would that be the correct meaning?

Yes, in classical Arabic the word (jid جِد) means hardworking, and the word (jad جَد) means seriousness. Just watch out people in the street are not strict to that, and sometimes don't use these vowels properly.
