Nice lesson, thanks!
Is the formal way of saying "Do you like to listen to music" - this is what I seem to read in my Arabic lesson texts.
ا تحب ان تسمع الأغاني -
It is interesting to note that certain Arabic nouns may take on a more general meaning when they are used in the plural. Thus "araany" (the plural of "ournia")can mean "music" as well as "songs", and "awlad" (the plural of "walad") can mean "children" as well as "boys".
-
Just to clarify the word for (song) is (u3'neyah) or (ughneyah), and the plural is (a3'aany) or (aghaany). The word (a3'aany) can be used in the street as (music), however, it still means (songs) but just people use it in the street to say (music). There are different words for (music), like the borrowed word (mooseeqa موسيقى) or the classical word (ma3aazef معازف).
